Senior Financial Institutions Underwriter

Location: Madrid, Spain; requires the legal right to live and work in Spain. The role covers Spain, Portugal, and Italy and includes some travel for broker and client meetings.

What you will do

• Underwrite and grow the Financial Institutions book of business profitably across the designated region.
• Assess risks, coverage, terms, and conditions, with a primary focus on Liability insurance.
• Build and expand broker and customer relationships across Spain and Southern Europe.
• Negotiate insurance conditions for large and midsize projects and handle referral business.
• Develop underwriting strategies, guidelines, standards, processes, tools, and insurance products.
• Collaborate with the Madrid team, General Manager, Liability, Business Development, Technical Underwriting, and Claims functions while improving data accuracy and end-to-end processes.

Requirements

• Proven underwriting experience and understanding of the regional insurance market.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, make quick decisions, and maintain underwriting integrity and profitability.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to identifying profitable new business opportunities.
• Fluency in Spanish and good written and spoken English.
• Legal right to live and work in Spain.
• Positive, people-oriented work ethic and ability to collaborate with partners across Spain and Southern Europe.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Portuguese and/or Italian.
