Senior Database Engineer (MySQL)

What you will do

• Design, install, configure, and maintain enterprise-grade database platforms and supporting technologies.
• Monitor, tune, and optimize database performance, availability, scalability, and reliability.
• Implement database security, access controls, backup strategies, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
• Troubleshoot database, connectivity, performance, and data integrity issues through root-cause analysis.
• Plan and support database upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
• Partner with software developers and infrastructure teams to implement scalable database solutions and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in database administration or database engineering.
• Strong expertise in one or more of MariaDB, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Redis, Cassandra, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Timestream, Kafka, Flink, or Hadoop/HBase.
• Knowledge of database architecture, administration, operational best practices, performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
• Experience with database security controls, user management, access governance, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as New Relic, AWS CloudWatch, or equivalent platforms, plus strong troubleshooting skills.
