Technical Director (Digital IP Design): Leading the architecture, design, and verification of digital IP blocks for the NXP MCU/MPU portfolio with an accent on memory controllers and bus protocols. Focus on hands-on design, post-silicon debug, and providing technical leadership for complex SoC integration projects.
Location: Onsite in San Diego, California
Salary: $220,400 – $303,100 annually

What you will do
- Ramp up on legacy digital IP blocks and support change requests across the MCU/MPU portfolio.
- Collaborate with global SoC, systems, and software teams to ensure IP meets product requirements.
- Lead IP architecture specifications for NOR/PSRAM/NAND Flash controllers.
- Provide technical debug and support for issues in both pre-silicon and post-silicon phases.
- Develop and model ECC algorithms such as BCH, Reed-Solomon, and LDPC.
- Generate detailed design documentation, specifications, and programming guides for software teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- Proven experience building digital IPs and supporting them across multiple SoC generations.
- Strong understanding of AHB/AXI bus protocols, microprocessor architecture, and firmware development.
- Expertise in NOR/NAND Flash and ECC (BCH, Reed-Solomon).
- Understanding of low-power design techniques.
- Must be able to work onsite in San Diego, California.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
- 20+ years of experience in digital IC design.
- Expertise in Verilog/SystemVerilog for RTL design and verification.
- Experience with industry-standard EDA tools for synthesis and STA.
