VMware Engineer (vSphere)

TL;DR

VMware Engineer (vSphere): Providing expert administration, operation, and management of VMware vSphere environments for global customers with an accent on troubleshooting complex issues and maintaining high operational standards. Focus on resolving technical incidents, performing upgrades, and ensuring system performance and security across virtualized infrastructure.

Location: Hybrid (requires working on average 2 days per week from an HPE office).

What you will do

• Resolve customer issues via telephone, email, and remote sessions.
• Identify and escalate technical issues to vendors according to process guidelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional technology teams to diagnose and isolate complex system problems.
• Maintain high quality in case documentation, SLA adherence, and operational metrics.
• Handle Problem Management, Post Incident Reviews, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Leverage internal technical expertise and knowledge bases to provide effective solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in an Enterprise Managed Service environment.
• Strong proficiency in administering and managing vSphere Datacenters, including ESXi and vCenter.
• Experience with vSphere networking (Standard/Distributed Switches), storage (iSCSI, FC), and security hardening.
• Basic knowledge of Linux, Active Directory, and scripting with PowerCLI.
• Flexibility to work in a 24/7 support environment.

Nice to have

• Certifications such as VMware VCP, RHCSA, CCNA, or ITIL.
• Understanding of VMware SRM and vSAN.
• Basic knowledge of physical network and storage technologies.
