Global Trade Compliance Manager (Defense)

Location: Hybrid work schedule in Buffalo/East Aurora, New York; must live locally in the Buffalo area and work on-site.

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 annually.

What you will do

• Develop trade compliance strategies and solutions for domestic and international defense business opportunities.
• Advise business development, supply chain, contracts, engineering, finance, and leadership stakeholders on trade requirements.
• Research trade parameters for operating in countries outside the host country and guide compliance for new locations.
• Prioritize high-volume trade requirements, coordinate authorizations, and create metrics and automation.
• Perform and document commodity and technology classifications using authorized systems.
• Prepare complex U.S. government license applications, authorizations, and Technology Control Plans; support investigations, projects, acquisitions, and divestitures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree typically required; international business, global business, trade-related certifications, or an engineering degree are relevant backgrounds.
• More than 7 years of direct experience with export/import tasks and regulations, including more than 3 years in program or project management.
• Subject matter expertise in U.S. export/import regulations, including ITAR, EAR, ATF, and OFAC; international trade compliance experience is beneficial.
• Experience with ERP and trade tools such as SAP, GTS, OCR EASE, SNAP-R, DECCS, and ATF electronic submissions.
• Experience with project management, data, and BI tools such as MS Project, Planner, Azure DevOps, Jira, PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
• Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally, potentially twice per month, and must live locally in the Buffalo area for on-site work.

Nice to have

• Manufacturing or defense technology trade compliance experience.
• Advanced degree or certifications such as PMP or PMI-ACP.
