Senior Director of Legal (Government)

Location: Washington D.C.; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations.

What you will do

• Lead legal support for U.S. government contracts, including FAR/DFARS compliance, proposals, negotiations, administration, disputes, claims, and terminations.
• Partner with business development and program teams to structure, negotiate, and win government deals.
• Advise on FCC, NOAA, Commerce Department, State Department, licensing, approvals, and evolving regulatory obligations.
• Build and oversee ITAR/EAR export compliance programs covering international transactions, data sharing, and technology transfers.
• Develop scalable compliance policies, procedures, templates, training, and playbooks while supporting audits and government engagements.
• Advise executive leadership, manage outside counsel, and help build and mentor the legal and compliance team.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree and active license to practice law in the United States.
• 11+ years of progressive legal experience in aerospace or defense, including government contracting and regulatory matters.
• Deep expertise in FAR/DFARS, U.S. government procurement, ITAR/EAR, and regulatory compliance programs.
• Experience negotiating complex defense and government contracts and advising C-suite leaders and Boards of Directors.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, stakeholder management, business judgment, and execution skills.
• Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.
