TL;DR

Principal Software Architect (Game Development): Defining and driving technical architecture strategy for migrating from legacy gaming technology stacks to the next-generation Carbon platform with an accent on enterprise-wide engineering standards, scalable platform design, and modernization across multiple studios. Focus on architectural reviews, solution design for Unity/Godot and proprietary engines, and ensuring performance, reliability, security, and regulatory compliance in a highly regulated gaming environment.

Location: Las Vegas, NV (requires presence on-site 4 days a week). Open to candidates based in Chicago, IL; preference for Las Vegas.

What you will do

  • Define and drive architecture strategy for migrating legacy game technology stacks to the Carbon platform.
  • Establish enterprise engineering standards, architectural patterns, and development best practices across studios and business units.
  • Lead architectural reviews and technical design sessions; guide modernization decisions (framework adoption, engine strategy, and build-vs-buy).
  • Design scalable, maintainable, and performant architectures for enterprise game development ecosystems and integrations between shared platform and studio implementations.
  • Drive standardization for shared frameworks, SDKs, CI/CD pipelines, telemetry, deployment, and development tooling.
  • Ensure architectures meet performance, reliability, security, and regulatory compliance requirements; identify risks and guide mitigation.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in game development technologies and modern software architecture.
  • Experience with game engines/frameworks such as Unity and Godot (custom/proprietary engines desired).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to work on-site in Las Vegas 4 days a week; Chicago, IL candidates are considered.
