What you will do

• Report and write news articles and breaking news alerts on tight deadlines.
• Cover events live and in person at state legislatures, courthouses, and other strategic locations.
• Pitch and develop analytical features on complex tax and legal developments.
• Establish and maintain strategic relationships with sources and editorial teams.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for Washington-based reporters and other correspondents.

Requirements

• 8-12 years of experience in journalism, with at least one year covering relevant subject areas.
• Must be able to cover events live and meet sources in person within the assigned region.
• Deep knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in English or journalism preferred.
• Demonstrated mastery of journalism principles and reporting techniques.
