TL;DR
Digital Design Engineer I (VLSI): Developing and validating digital logic blocks and SoC architectures for low-power wireless microcontroller products with an accent on RTL design, VLSI principles, and mixed-signal integration. Focus on creating verification models and plans, debugging design issues, and supporting silicon bring-up and characterization.

Location: Austin, United States; hybrid work arrangement

Annual base pay: $78,750–$146,250 USD, plus potential annual cash bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

  • Contribute to digital IC design and SoC architecture for wireless microcontroller products.
  • Design, implement, and validate RTL and digital logic blocks for complex mixed-signal SoCs.
  • Develop models, simulations, and verification plans to assess functionality, performance, and design quality.
  • Analyze results, debug issues, and support root-cause investigations throughout development.
  • Collaborate with analog design, verification, firmware, and systems engineers.
  • Support design reviews, silicon bring-up, validation, and characterization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Academic or project experience in VLSI design, digital IC design, digital embedded systems, computer architecture, or SoC development.
  • Understanding of RTL design, finite state machines, timing concepts, and digital logic implementation.
  • Experience with Verilog or SystemVerilog through coursework, research, internships, or projects.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Nice to have

  • Internship, co-op, research, or project experience in digital IC design, SoC development, or semiconductor products.
  • Exposure to digital verification methodologies, simulation tools, and verification environments.
  • Experience with EDA tools for design, synthesis, timing analysis, or verification.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems, microcontroller architectures, wireless communications, or mixed-signal integration.
  • Participation in engineering competitions, technical organizations, open-source hardware projects, or student leadership activities.
