Software Service/Automation Field Engineer (Robotics)

Location: On-site in Frimley, UK, with a minimum of four days per week at the engineering centre and regular travel to customer and test sites across the UK and Europe.

What you will do

• Act as the first point of contact for software issues at customer and test sites.
• Diagnose and resolve deployment issues in live automated environments using hands-on hardware and software debugging.
• Conduct structured issue triage with UK and US engineering teams and escalate problems when needed.
• Develop a deep understanding of the full automation software stack.
• Communicate with customer and operator teams on-site to manage expectations and resolve issues professionally.
• Provide recurring field-issue feedback to core engineering teams to support continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering foundation with exposure to embedded or industrial systems.
• Hands-on experience diagnosing and debugging systems in live environments.
• Comfort working with physical hardware in industrial settings and travelling to customer and test sites across the UK and, over time, Europe.
• Ability to collaborate remotely with UK and US engineering teams and communicate confidently with customers and operators.
• Experience in applications engineering, commissioning, or technical support combined with software skills is suitable for the role.
• Successful candidates must complete background checks.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with automation or robotics software stacks.
• Experience supporting deployments or production systems in the field.
