Head of Credit Strategy Oversight (Fintech): Leading the second line of defence credit risk oversight team to ensure safe lending growth with an accent on independent assurance, portfolio monitoring, and strategic challenge. Focus on influencing credit strategy, managing high-performing teams, and integrating AI tools to enhance risk management across the credit lifecycle.

Location: Must be based in the UK (London, Cardiff, or remote with ad-hoc meetings in London).

Salary: £125,400 - £150,000 + Incentive Awards.

What you will do

  • Lead and set the agenda for the credit risk strategy oversight team.
  • Provide independent assurance and constructive challenge to first-line credit strategy and product changes.
  • Oversee risk appetite, portfolio monitoring, and financial projections.
  • Partner with first-line teams to support new product launches and pilots.
  • Lead the adoption of AI tools to enhance credit risk oversight approaches.
  • Provide credit expertise for strategic projects and stress-testing initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must be based in the UK.
  • Significant practical experience in credit risk management within consumer or small business lending.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with a track record of building high-performing teams.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to define and interpret complex credit performance trends.
  • Exceptional communication skills to influence senior stakeholders and provide effective challenge.
  • Experience with scorecards, NPV models, and balancing risk with commercial outcomes.

Nice to have

  • Experience in unsecured, revolving credit products.
  • Hands-on technical skills in SQL or Python.
