What you will do
- Build and maintain Android-specific development tooling (simulator setup, device orchestration, CLI developer tools).
- Develop and enhance the mobile test automation framework for synthetic and integration testing on Android.
- Design and implement CI/CD quality gating using automation tests to detect regressions early.
- Collaborate with Native Infra, Cross Platform, and DevX teams to consolidate fragmented mobile workflows into a unified system.
- Define, improve, and codify mobile testing best practices and methodologies across Canva.
- Support company-wide triage workflows and monitoring for mobile development and testing, and mentor less experienced engineers.
Requirements
- Experience as an Android engineer with a strong focus on developer tooling, testing infrastructure, and mobile platform reliability.
- Proven modern Android development expertise, including deep understanding of Kotlin, concurrency, and reactive programming.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines, test frameworks, or developer tools at scale.
- Knowledge of CI/CD systems, build pipelines, and mobile development tooling (e.g., Fastlane, Gradle).
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to write reusable, testable code.
- Ability to work independently through ambiguity and propose best technical solutions.
