What you will do

• Report and write daily news articles and breaking news alerts under tight deadlines.
• Cover events live at courthouses, state legislatures, and other strategic locations.
• Pitch and develop analytical features on complex tax and legal developments.
• Establish and maintain strategic relationships with industry sources and editors.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for Washington-based reporters and correspondents.

Requirements

• 3-7 years of experience in journalism with demonstrated reporting proficiency.
• Ability to cover events live and meet with sources in person in the assigned region.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in English or journalism preferred.
• Excellent news judgment and ability to make complex subjects accessible.
