TL;DR
Silicon Photonics Design, Principal Engineer (Silicon Photonics): Designing and characterizing active and passive photonic integrated components, circuits, and high-bandwidth photonic systems with an accent on silicon photonics, optical communications, and electro-optical testing. Focus on electromagnetic simulations, code-based mask layout, tape-out activities, measurement analysis, and root-cause investigation of component and integrated-circuit failures.

What you will do

  • Simulate and design active and passive photonic integrated components, circuits, and high-bandwidth photonic systems.
  • Translate device specifications into mask layouts and contribute to tape-out activities, including layout verification, DRC, and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain simulation and mask-layout software, including PDK-related tools.
  • Test and characterize photonic components and integrated circuits.
  • Analyze measurement data against simulations to optimize device performance.
  • Perform root-cause and failure analysis of components and integrated circuits.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience in a high-tech engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of silicon photonics, semiconductor physics, optical component design, fabrication, and testing.
  • Background in optical communications or high-frequency electrical/electro-optical characterization above 40 GHz.
  • Experience with photonic device characterization and development testing.
  • Expertise in photonic electromagnetic simulations, RF PCB design and simulation, code-based photonic IC mask layout, external PDKs, libraries, and DRC.

Nice to have

  • Experience with advanced packaging or 2.5D/3D integration in optical platforms.
  • High-speed testing experience.
  • Experience with Lumerical, HFSS, Synopsys tools, or multiple semiconductor foundries.
