TL;DR

Location: Must be based in or able to commute to Manchester, UK (3 days per week in office)

What you will do

  • Architect and lead the newly created Payment Operations department.
  • Manage daily transaction workflows, clearing real-time payment queues and resolving exceptions across Faster Payments and CHAPS infrastructure.
  • Scale card operations, including physical/virtual card delivery and the end-to-end chargeback dispute pipeline.
  • Oversee UK Direct Debit scheme execution and indemnity claim processes.
  • Act as the primary operational contact for critical partners like ClearBank and Pay.UK to drive scheme compliance.
  • Define KPIs and serve as the final escalation point for payment system outages.

Requirements

  • Substantial leadership experience in financial services and card/payments scaling.
  • Deep structural knowledge of UK and US domestic clearing systems (Faster Payments, CHAPS, Fedwire, ACH).
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex data and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Adaptable and pragmatic leadership style with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
