What you will do
- Architect and lead the newly created Payment Operations department.
- Manage daily transaction workflows, clearing real-time payment queues and resolving exceptions across Faster Payments and CHAPS infrastructure.
- Scale card operations, including physical/virtual card delivery and the end-to-end chargeback dispute pipeline.
- Oversee UK Direct Debit scheme execution and indemnity claim processes.
- Act as the primary operational contact for critical partners like ClearBank and Pay.UK to drive scheme compliance.
- Define KPIs and serve as the final escalation point for payment system outages.
Requirements
- Substantial leadership experience in financial services and card/payments scaling.
- Deep structural knowledge of UK and US domestic clearing systems (Faster Payments, CHAPS, Fedwire, ACH).
- Proven track record of leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex data and evidence-based decision-making.
- Adaptable and pragmatic leadership style with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
