Software Team Lead (Defence): Leading an agile development team to build and maintain the hirify.global 9LV Combat Management System for naval command and control with an accent on mission-essential and safety-critical software. Focus on supervising engineers, driving execution of software processes, and integrating sensors and weapons data to provide situational awareness.

Location: Hybrid (Adelaide, Australia). Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance (preferably NV1).

What you will do

• Lead and supervise an agile integrated development team of engineers.
• Drive the team's execution of and adherence to software development processes and plans.
• Lead the development of new software components to introduce features and expand equipment support.
• Oversee the maintenance and improvement of legacy software components and engineering documentation.
• Manage team performance by setting oriented goals and providing regular feedback.
• Ensure accurate tracking of tasks, defects, and effort logs within Jira.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Fluency in at least one: Java, Ada, C++, or C#.
• Experience in both procedural and object-oriented programming paradigms.
• Proficiency in design patterns and configuration management using Git.
• Previous leadership experience in an agile software development environment.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility for Australian Defence Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with military systems or defence technologies.
• Proficiency in Bash, Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Experience with DDS, IBM DOORS, Docker, and the Atlassian tool suite.
• Skill in Linux-based environments and test automation frameworks.
• Ability to develop human-machine interfaces (HMIs) for interactive systems.
