Lead Java Software Engineer (SaaS)

Location: Remote for candidates currently residing in the United States, with occasional in-person office meetings required in San Francisco, Chicago, Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake City, or Madison

Salary: $85,000–$160,000 annually, plus a potential discretionary annual bonus

What you will do

• Lead and contribute to the full software development life cycle for cloud-based enterprise applications.
• Design and develop cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, REST/SOAP services, API gateways, and relational databases.
• Build scalable, high-performance microservices that meet security, reliability, usability, and maintainability requirements.
• Write clean, documented code, conduct code reviews, and improve engineering standards.
• Investigate production issues and performance bottlenecks, then optimize applications for reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, Product, and Business teams using Agile, Scrum, Jira, Confluence, and Git.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of software development experience building high-performance, reliable, and scalable enterprise applications.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Python, and Spring Boot, with experience in MySQL and at least one NoSQL database.
• Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, log analytics, APM tools, Apache Camel, RabbitMQ or similar messaging systems, and data pipelines.
• Experience with AWS services, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices design and implementation; Kubernetes experience is preferred.
• Must currently reside in the United States; visa sponsorship or extensions are not available.

Nice to have

• Angular experience.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude.
• Knowledge of the energy industry and related software systems.
