Technical Architect (Windows)

TL;DR

Technical Architect (Windows/Infrastructure): Designing and delivering mission-critical technical solutions and proof of concepts for public service software with an accent on Windows Server architecture and virtualization. Focus on producing high-standard technical design documentation, coordinating engineering delivery, and ensuring system reliability in high-stakes operational environments.

Location: Remote, must be based in the UK and be eligible for SC and NPPV clearance

What you will do

• Design and deliver mission-critical technical solutions and proof of concepts.
• Perform product evaluations to determine suitability for live operational use.
• Produce detailed technical design documentation according to company standards.
• Triage and assign engineering tasks using Azure DevOps.
• Provide technical consultancy and support to delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage project planning, equipment orders, and engineering milestone reviews.

Requirements

• Must have lived in the UK for at least 5 consecutive years to be eligible for SC and NPPV clearance.
• Must have pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a comparable technical architecture role.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Windows client and server architecture (up to Server 2025) and DELL hardware.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Active Directory, Hyper-V, or VMware.
• Experience with requirements capture and producing technical design documentation.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in formal design methodologies such as TOGAF.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure (solution design, deployment, or security).
• Scripting experience in PowerShell, Batch, or MySQL.
• Knowledge of telephony systems (Cisco, Avaya, Mitel, etc.) and the SIP protocol.
• Knowledge of MySQL/MSSQL.
