CAD Technician (Highways)

TL;DR

CAD Technician (Highways): Producing technical CAD outputs for highways design, car parks, and pedestrian routing for major developments and events with an accent on RIBA Stages 1–7. Focus on developing Temporary Traffic Management drawings, undertaking vehicle tracking, and coordinating buildable designs for high-profile transport projects.

Location: Hybrid; must spend 60% of time in the office or on-site in the UK (London, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, or Hemel Hempstead)

What you will do

• Produce accurate CAD drawings for building design, highways, and major events across RIBA Stages 1–7.
• Develop Chapter 8 Temporary Traffic Management drawings in accordance with relevant standards.
• Undertake vehicle tracking to inform access, servicing, and highway design.
• Prepare layouts for internal service yards, car parks, waste storage, and cycle parking facilities.
• Produce Section 278 highway feasibility and optioneering drawings.
• Support pedestrian routing, queue design, and crowd-flow layouts for complex sites.

Requirements

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and vehicle tracking software.
• Working knowledge of the Traffic Signs Manual and TSRGD.
• Previous experience in highways, car park, and access design.
• Relevant academic qualifications or professional experience.
• Must be based in or able to work from UK offices (Hybrid)

Nice to have

• Experience with Revit or KeySign.
• Exposure to logistics or servicing operations.
