TL;DR
Staff / Principal MLOps Engineer (AI/MLOps): Designing and implementing scalable ML infrastructure and data pipelines to improve workforce development access with an accent on system reliability, data architecture, and production MLOps. Focus on assessing existing pipelines, hardening data workflows, and establishing observability standards for high-impact AI services.
Location: Must be based in the US or Canada. Hybrid options available in New York City and Toronto.
Salary: USD $195,000 – $245,000 (NYC) / CAD $175,000 – $220,000 (Toronto) or USD $120 – $170 per hour for contract.

What you will do
- Evaluate current pipelines and data architecture to produce a prioritized improvement plan.
- Design and implement durable, scalable ML systems anchored in customer needs.
- Rebuild and harden production data pipelines and ML workflows.
- Establish high standards for observability, reliability, and data quality.
- Mentor a small data and engineering team.
Requirements
- Staff or principal-level experience in MLOps, data engineering, or ML infrastructure.
- Proven track record of diagnosing and improving complex, fast-grown systems.
- Strong systems design skills and ability to implement fixes directly in the codebase.
- Expertise in building production data pipelines and ML workflows at scale.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, Airflow, dbt, and the AWS ecosystem (S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, SageMaker).
- Must be based in the US or Canada.
Nice to have
- Experience establishing MLOps practices (CI/CD for models, feature stores, monitoring) from scratch.
- Background in mission-driven or government-adjacent data environments.
- Public artifacts (publications, blog posts) showcasing MLOps expertise.
