What you will do

• Originate and produce stories through research, writing, filming, and editing across hirify.global output.
• Report on air for broadcast and write regularly for the hirify.global News website.
• Develop specialist knowledge and coverage of the health brief and devolved policy.
• Increase diversity in contributors to better reflect the audiences served.
• Ensure all journalism is impartial, accurate, and delivered within tight deadlines.

Requirements

• Must identify as deaf, disabled, or neurodivergent as part of the hirify.global Extend programme.
• Must be based in or able to work hybridly from Edinburgh or Glasgow.
• Substantial experience in broadcast journalism with a high standard of editorial judgment.
• Knowledge of health policy and the main issues within the specialist brief.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
• Ability to manage resources and technical facilities in a cost-effective manner.

Nice to have

• Experience in data journalism and the use of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.
• Proficiency in newsgathering using mobile phones.
• Experience handling sensitive contributors and challenging stakeholders.
• Ability to analyze complex documents for detail and news value.
