TL;DR
Editor (Film Criticism): Overseeing commissioning and editing for the English-language publication Notebook and the biannual print magazine with an accent on diverse film criticism and editorial workflow management. Location: Hybrid; must be based in London (UK) or New York City (US). 3 office days per week required (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).

What you will do
- Commission and edit a range of feature types for the daily digital publication Notebook to shape its perspective on world cinema.
- Manage the digital editorial workflow, including the publishing calendar, editorial budget, and contributor payments.
- Scout and maintain a network of international contributors, from emerging talent to established voices.
- Act as a contributing editor for the print editions of Notebook, overseeing the process from issue development to final proofreading.
- Monitor analytics and audience insights to set growth targets and coordinate promotional strategies with the social media team.
- Represent the publication on the ground at film festivals, screenings, and industry events.
Requirements
- At least three years of professional experience in an editing capacity within a cultural publication.
- Deep passion for cinema beyond mainstream releases, with rich knowledge of historical and contemporary international film.
- Exceptional writing, copy editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to effectively coordinate an international roster of contributors.
- Proven capacity to multitask, manage simultaneous projects, and work under tight deadlines.
- Must be based in London or New York City to meet hybrid office requirements.
