Chief Editor (Scientific Publishing): Driving the success and growth of PeerJ through external engagement and strategic initiatives with an accent on scientific integrity and community visibility. Focus on building relationships with external stakeholders, overseeing editorial operations, and shaping open access publication policies.

Location: Hybrid (Must be based within a commutable distance of Milton Park, Oxfordshire, UK). Minimum 3 days per week in-person.

What you will do

• Define and implement PeerJ's strategic editorial vision and content strategies to align with the needs of the scientific community.
• Maintain strong connections with the Editorial Board, funding bodies, and author communities.
• Oversee the scientific quality, editorial integrity, and rigorous peer review processes of all published content.
• Represent PeerJ at high-profile scientific conferences and industry events to promote the journal's mission.
• Recruit, mentor, and lead a diverse team of editors and senior editors.
• Monitor KPIs related to submissions, acceptance rates, and citation metrics to drive external impact.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant scientific discipline (preferred).
• Significant experience in senior editorial roles within scientific publishing.
• Must have the right to work and live in the United Kingdom.
• Deep knowledge of open access publishing models and publication ethics.
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
• Proven track record of editorial leadership and strategic vision.
