What you will do

• Provide hands-on technical direction and manage day-to-day engineering operations.
• Build, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary team across hardware, software, optics, and data.
• Act as the principal technical liaison between engineering and clinical/assay developers.
• Drive programs from concept to verification and validation, managing milestones and risks.
• Ensure engineering practices align with ISO 13485, IVDR, and UKCA regulatory standards.
• Standardize practices and promote knowledge sharing across UK and international sites.

Requirements

• Must be based in London, UK
• 6+ years of experience leading engineering or product development in medical devices or life-science instrumentation.
• Proven track record of managing multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.
• Deep expertise in at least one core engineering area with broad fluency in optics/photonics.
• Familiarity with ISO 13485, IVDR, and UKCA regulatory frameworks.
• Strong communication skills for bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• PhD in Nanoscience, Biomedical, Optical, Electrical, or Physics Engineering.
• Exposure to AI/ML technologies.
• Experience with ISO 15189 standards.
• First-hand startup experience.
