TL;DR
DevOps / Security Engineer (Infrastructure): Designing and securing digital infrastructure for plant resilience research with an accent on cloud-native architectures and security-by-design. Focus on implementing CI/CD pipelines, managing IAM systems, and optimizing SURF-provided research infrastructure.
Location: Delft, Netherlands. Must be from an EU country or possess a valid Dutch work permit.
Salary: €3,546 - €5,538 gross per month

What you will do
- Design, implement, and maintain the Resilience Hub infrastructure using local and SURF services.
- Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines for reliable service deployment.
- Ensure security-by-design across all infrastructure and services.
- Manage identity and access management (IAM), authentication, and authorization systems.
- Monitor system performance, reliability, and security, implementing alerting and incident response.
- Contribute to architectural decisions regarding scalability, cost efficiency, and maintainability.
Requirements
- Experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure engineering roles.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and containerized systems.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containers, and CI/CD systems.
- Security expertise specifically within Python environments.
- Experience with network security, secrets management, and access control.
- Eligibility: Candidates must be from EU countries or have a valid Dutch work permit.
Nice to have
- Experience working with SURF cloud and associated services.
- Security practice experience in academic or data-intensive research environments.
- Experience with scientific computing or ML workflows.
- Knowledge of incident response, vulnerability management, and security auditing.
