Principal Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States, limited to the Eastern or Central time zones. Employees living within commuting distance of an office must work onsite two days per week under the hybrid work model.

What you will do

• Lead research, design, and implementation of advanced machine learning and deep learning models for complex enterprise problems.
• Develop scalable time-series forecasting models for predictive planning and scenario modeling.
• Architect generative AI solutions, including fine-tuning open-source and proprietary LLMs with Transformer-based techniques.
• Design conversational AI interfaces and agentic workflows capable of executing complex planning processes autonomously.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Design to move AI models from prototypes into robust production systems.
• Mentor data scientists and engineers while promoting technical excellence, rigorous testing, and continuous learning.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related engineering fields.
• End-to-end experience training and deploying machine learning models in production.
• Strong knowledge of LLM APIs, prompt engineering, conversational AI, Transformer architectures, and LLM fine-tuning methods such as LoRA, QLoRA, and RLHF.
• Proficiency in Python and modern software development practices, including testing, code review, and CI/CD.
• Hands-on experience with traditional machine learning, deep learning, time-series forecasting, MLOps, LLMOps, and scalable model deployment.
• Experience with agentic frameworks and autonomous agent architectures.

Nice to have

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Published research, patents, or open-source contributions in AI and machine learning.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure and MLOps tools.
• Background in forecasting, planning, analytics applications, A/B testing, experimentation, or model observability.
• Familiarity with hirify.global or similar enterprise planning platforms.
