What you will do
- Develop and maintain simplified to high-fidelity thermal models using Thermal Desktop and SINDA/FLUINT.
- Perform steady-state and transient analyses for spacecraft components, subsystems, and integrated vehicle configurations.
- Evaluate thermal performance across various mission phases, including ascent, cruise, lunar orbit, and surface operations.
- Support thermal vacuum test planning, data analysis, and model correlation.
- Review NASA and vendor thermal designs to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with requirements.
- Present detailed analysis findings to NASA customers during design reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 2–5 years of professional experience in thermal analysis or a related field.
- Proficiency with thermal analysis tools such as Thermal Desktop, SINDA/FLUINT, COMSOL, or ANSYS Fluent.
- Strong understanding of heat transfer principles (conduction, convection, radiation) and spacecraft thermal environments.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government background investigation.
Nice to have
- 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience with Passive (PTCS) or Active (ATCS) Thermal Control Systems hardware design and testing.
- Proven track record of performing thermal analysis specifically for aerospace systems.
- Familiarity with NASA JSC organizations, processes, and the Engineering Life Cycle.
- Experience leading collaborations across multiple technical disciplines.
