Engineering Manager / Technical Lead (AI)

Location: On-site in Limassol, Cyprus; no remote or hybrid work options. Relocation support is provided for the candidate and family.

Salary: €8,000–€14,000 net per month, plus a 13th salary.

What you will do

• Establish and scale the Player Care engineering function while acting as the independent architectural authority and strategic technology partner.
• Audit the existing technology strategy, create a roadmap, eliminate single points of failure, and build a lean backend and automation engineering pod.
• Design backend triage pipelines and AI-driven deflection mechanisms to automate player issue resolution and improve global support efficiency.
• Lead the design and implementation of a high-throughput, multilingual chat moderation and inference pipeline, including the build-versus-buy decision for moderation technology.
• Modernize SQL investigation, fraud detection, sanctioning, and diagnostics workflows to improve operational efficiency.
• Hire, manage, and develop engineers while conducting code reviews, performance reviews, and other people-management processes.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering background with several years of experience managing, hiring, and building engineering teams from a small base.
• Hands-on experience with high-throughput event-driven architectures and message queues such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, BullMQ, or Redis Streams.
• Experience building and maintaining large-scale, highly available services, with deep system-design and independent technical decision-making skills.
• Experience with production ML systems such as text classification, content moderation, or anti-fraud, plus an understanding of inference economics.
• Experience managing technical hiring, code reviews, performance reviews, and vendor relationships.
• Must work on-site in Limassol, Cyprus; remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.

Nice to have

• Experience in mobile gaming, MMO or 4X strategy games, live-ops, complex game economies, or large player chat communities.
• Background in high-volume moderation or anti-fraud systems for UGC products, marketplaces, banking, or fintech.
• Experience reporting directly to a non-technical operational or business stakeholder.
