Head of AI Engineering (AI)

Location: Larnaca, Cyprus; hybrid work model with 2 days working from home

What you will do

• Lead AI software engineers and AI process optimisation specialists, providing technical direction, code-quality oversight, mentoring, and performance input.
• Identify high-value automation opportunities across IT and business functions, establish measurable baselines, and report outcomes against them.
• Design, deliver, and support production AI systems, including retrieval, agents, tool use, and reusable internal platform components.
• Own AI engineering standards, risk classification, data classification, evaluation sets, audit trails, architecture reviews, and security reviews.
• Manage the prioritised delivery backlog, capacity planning, hiring proposals, model and vendor evaluation, and running costs.
• Own production practices including runbooks, monitoring, on-call participation, incident follow-through, and technical coordination between AI and IT.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building software or data systems, including 2+ years leading engineers as a manager or technical lead.
• Production experience with machine learning, large language models, or generative AI solving real business problems.
• Strong Python and production experience building LLM services and APIs, orchestrating agents and tool use, and working with major model providers.
• Experience with retrieval augmented generation, vector search, Docker, cloud deployment, CI/CD, REST APIs, AI-driven microservices, and DevOps automation.
• Ability to measure model accuracy, latency, cost, hallucination, regression, and drift, with practical knowledge of prompt engineering and fine-tuning decisions.
• Applicants must be eligible or have legal authorization to work in Cyprus. Experience with data protection in regulated environments and financial services is valuable.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS cloud AI and ML services and their token, inference, and adoption cost models.
• Financial services or another regulated-industry experience.
• Experience training models with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
