What you will do

• Design and own database architecture for critical infrastructure, including PostgreSQL-backed platforms and Slurm accounting databases.
• Define standards for high availability, replication, failover, backup, and disaster recovery validation.
• Operate and optimize production environments across PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Percona, troubleshooting latency and lock contention.
• Build deep database observability using Prometheus, Grafana, and low-level Linux profiling tools.
• Automate database provisioning, configuration, and upgrade workflows using Ansible and CI/CD pipelines.
• Act as the technical lead for major incidents and mentor L4 and L5 engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of production database engineering, administration, or architecture experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise with PostgreSQL and MySQL/Percona in production.
• Deep SQL performance tuning skills, including execution plan analysis and schema optimization.
• Strong Linux systems knowledge and experience with root cause analysis of production incidents.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with SlurmDBD, NetBox, or HPC/AI infrastructure database workloads.
• Proficiency with eBPF/BCC, perf, or strace for low-level Linux diagnostics.
• Experience with Percona XtraDB Cluster, ProxySQL, or advanced PostgreSQL HA tooling.
• Knowledge of MongoDB, Oracle, or SQL Server.
