TL;DR
Electrical Systems Engineer (Electrical Engineering): Designing and integrating high and low voltage electrical systems for commercial marine vessels with an accent on power distribution and hardware-software integration. Salary: $150,000 – $190,000

What you will do
- Own the design and integration of high and low voltage (HV/LV) electrical systems for commercial marine vessels.
- Develop and maintain electrical topologies, I/O maps, and wiring/harnessing definitions.
- Write clear functional specifications and collaborate with the control software team to ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
- Lead hardware trade studies, component selection, and supplier evaluation.
- Perform hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of HV/LV systems in benchtop, HIL, and field environments.
- Support sea trials to validate system performance and ensure feature parity with production setups.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical systems integration, hardware development, or system-level engineering.
- Strong understanding of HV/LV electrical systems, power distribution, sensors, and actuators.
- Familiarity with automotive or industrial communication protocols (CAN/J1939, Modbus, Profinet, EtherCAT).
- Hands-on experience debugging hardware-to-software interfaces using multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Must be based in or be able to relocate to Torrance, CA for a full-time on-site role.
Nice to have
- Background in industrial automation, automotive EV, marine, robotics, or aerospace electrical architectures.
- Experience with Battery Management Systems (BMS) at automotive or BESS scale.
- Knowledge of ABS, USCG, IEEE, or IEC standards for commercial marine vessels.
- Familiarity with functional safety concepts (DFMEA, hazard analysis) and EMC/EMI design.
- Proficiency with electrical schematic tools such as EPLAN, Zuken, AutoCAD Electrical, or Visio.
