What you will do

  • Design and deploy AI agents to automate data ingestion, preprocessing, feature extraction, and report generation.
  • Develop scalable data pipelines and agent-based systems to improve laboratory data processing efficiency.
  • Apply ML and statistical methods to analyze microscopy, spectroscopy, and diffraction data.
  • Implement agent-driven orchestration for autonomous or semi-autonomous scientific data analysis.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to translate experimental challenges into AI-augmented solutions.
  • Build and validate predictive models for materials characterization and failure analysis.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Materials Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python and scientific computing libraries (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn).
  • Experience developing AI agents, automation frameworks, or LLM-based systems (e.g., LangChain, RAG).
  • Experience working with experimental, image, spectral, sensor, or time-series data.
  • Strong foundation in statistics and applied machine learning.
  • Must be located in or able to work from Sunnyvale, CA, USA.

Nice to have

  • Experience with surface analysis or spectroscopy datasets (e.g., XPS, AES, SIMS).
  • Familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Knowledge of signal processing, spectral deconvolution, or feature extraction for materials data.
  • Experience applying deep learning or representation learning to scientific datasets.
