What you will do

• Design and develop event-driven, data-intensive backend services using Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS to support AI workloads.
• Architect microservices-based solutions with REST APIs and asynchronous messaging patterns.
• Lead the development and deployment of AI-enabled systems that process structured and unstructured data.
• Drive Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices and maintain automated testing strategies across the stack.
• Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to translate business requirements into production-ready technical solutions.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and frameworks to support modernization and long-term scalability.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including deploying AI-enabled systems in production.
• Strong proficiency with React, Node.js, and TypeScript.
• Experience with AWS services (Aurora, ECS, SQS, S3) and container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) such as OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, or Anthropic Claude.
• Proven track record applying TDD methodologies and automated testing practices.
• Must reside within the continental US and have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience developing AI solutions within healthcare or federal government regulated environments.
• Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR and HL7.
• Experience with AI orchestration frameworks or agent-based architectures.
• Prior experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) projects.
