TL;DR

VDDV Modeling Technical Specialist (CAE/FEA): Defining enterprise modeling strategy and standards for structural, safety, and NVH development within the automotive sector with an accent on improving model fidelity and reducing physical testing. Focus on leading the resolution of complex 3D FEA challenges, advancing virtual engineering capabilities, and governing global modeling roadmaps.

Location: Hybrid (Warren, Michigan). Report to office at least 3 times a week.

What you will do

  • Serve as the global technical authority for subsystem- and vehicle-level 3D FEA modeling across LS-Dyna, OptiStruct, and Abaqus.
  • Define and govern enterprise modeling standards, quality criteria, and technical roadmaps for CAE model development and reuse.
  • Set strategic direction for next-generation capabilities, including pre-processing, process automation, and custom toolkits.
  • Resolve the organization's most complex modeling challenges spanning multiple vehicle systems and suppliers.
  • Benchmark methods against industry leaders and partner with software suppliers to shape product roadmaps.
  • Mentor VDDV engineers through coaching and deployment of best-in-class modeling practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of industry experience with deep expertise in virtual engineering (CAE) tools and structural FEA modeling.
  • Expertise in CAE tools such as ANSA/META, LS-Dyna, Abaqus, OptiStruct, Nastran, NX, HyperMesh, or SimLab.
  • Proven record of implementing technical standards adopted across multiple organizations.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship (No immigration sponsorship provided).
  • Must be based in or able to commute to Warren, Michigan for hybrid work (at least 3 days/week).

Nice to have

  • 15+ years of experience, including 5+ years in structures, safety, or NVH.
  • Advanced degree in a related engineering field.
  • Master Black Belt certification.
  • Experience leading enterprise improvements in simulation process and data management.
