Salary: $146,200 - $212,000 USD (depending on location tier)

What you will do

• Design, build, and scale backend services and APIs for Payments, Billing, Identity, and partner integrations.
• Own backend infrastructure end-to-end, from scoping and API design through production rollout.
• Write elegant, well-tested code and provide thorough code reviews to elevate team standards.
• Lead scoping and design discussions for new features, balancing speed with long-term system health.
• Integrate and mentor the team on the responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.
• Collaborate with product and design peers to solve high-priority user problems around rent payment.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with 4+ years of hands-on Java development.
• Proficiency in Spring (core/web/boot), Gradle, JUnit, and JVM tuning.
• Experience building fault-tolerant systems using SOA, REST APIs, and message queues.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (EKS, Aurora RDS, ElastiCache, DynamoDB) and containerization.
• Must be based in the USA to align with compensation tiers and benefits.
• Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions) and observability tools like Datadog.
