Software Engineer 1 (Distributed Systems)

TL;DR

Software Engineer 1 (Distributed Systems): Designing and developing high-performance data-path software for the hirify.global Distributed Storage Fabric (NDSF) with an accent on consistency, performance, and resiliency. Focus on building fault-tolerant distributed file systems and optimizing data-engine components like deduplication, compression, and erasure-coding.

Location: Hybrid (minimum 3 days per week in office). Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Salary: $90,400 – $180,000 per year

What you will do

• Architect, design, and develop reliable, efficient, and high-performance data-path software for large-scale enterprise and hybrid cloud environments.
• Design innovative solutions for complex distributed systems based on specific customer requirements.
• Improve the performance, scalability, and resiliency of distributed storage systems.
• Collaborate with development, test, documentation, and product management teams to deliver high-quality products.
• Engage with customers and support teams to troubleshoot and solve production issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related Engineering field.
• Up to 3 years of experience in designing and developing applications.
• Strong understanding of OS internals, distributed systems, data structures, and algorithms.
• Proven ability to build clustered, high-performance, and fault-tolerant distributed applications or systems software.
• Expertise in one or more languages: C++, C, or Java.
• Must have valid US work authorization (no visa sponsorship available).

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Cassandra, or Zookeeper.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies like KVM, VMware, Hyper-V, or Xen.
