What you will do

• Lead a high-performing applied ML team focused on AV behavior understanding using deep learning and Gen AI.
• Design and implement Gen AI LLM/VLM solutions for behavior analysis and anomaly detection.
• Oversee the production and optimization of ML models to assess fleet performance across millions of miles.
• Collaborate with product and business teams to build tools for feedback analysis, sentiment assessment, and root cause analysis.
• Drive technical direction and provide guidance to team members while aligning with company business objectives.
• Work cross-functionally with Prediction, Planning, and Research teams to deliver strategic initiatives.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work from Mountain View, San Francisco, or New York City.
• B.S. in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams of 5-15 people.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying ML products in production environments.
• Strong coding proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
• Expertise in ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face transformers.

Nice to have

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
• Deep learning experience with Transformers.
• Experience with MLOps, evaluation techniques, and model performance optimization.
• Large-scale data processing and analytical skills.
