What you will do

• Own hirify.global's legal and regulatory positioning under AI regulations including the EU AI Act, U.S. state laws, and NIST AI RMF.
• Lead export and trade compliance, including BIS/EAR controls, sanctions screening, and end-user diligence for compute access.
• Build and operate the global privacy program, focusing on GDPR/CCPA compliance and the DPA sub-processor framework.
• Manage the governance and controls layer for certifications such as SOC 2, ISO/IEC 42001, and HIPAA.
• Translate complex regulatory obligations into operational controls and training for engineering, product, and GTM teams.
• Partner with Model Labs and Sales teams to support partnership agreements on AI law, privacy, and IP provenance terms.

Requirements

• JD and active bar membership in good standing.
• 8+ years of experience in AI/tech regulatory, privacy, and compliance, with in-house experience at a tech, cloud, or infrastructure company.
• Operational command of data-protection frameworks (GDPR, CCPA).
• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001) and security regimes (SOC 2).
• Ability to operationalize regulatory regimes end-to-end in ambiguous environments.
• Must be based in or able to work in San Francisco or New York (Hybrid).

Nice to have

• Direct experience with BIS/EAR export controls, CFIUS, or trusted-supplier programs.
• Experience scaling privacy or compliance programs from an early stage.
• Relevant certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or IAPP AIGP.
• Exposure to AI-specific contracting, including model licensing and data provenance.
