TL;DR

Privacy Counsel (Legal): Analyzing and implementing compliance plans for data privacy and online safety laws across global jurisdictions with an accent on GDPR, CCPA, and AI regulations. Focus on drafting risk assessments, managing regulatory inquiries, and advising on the responsible use of AI.

Location: Must be based in San Francisco (Hybrid model)

Salary: $220,000 – $260,000

What you will do

  • Analyze current and developing privacy, AI, and online safety laws including GDPR, CCPA, DSA, and OSA.
  • Develop and implement practical compliance plans and conduct risk assessments such as DPIAs and PIAs.
  • Draft regulatory compliance reports and investigate responses to legislative and regulatory inquiries.
  • Advise commercial and user-facing teams on data governance, DPAs, and required privacy terms for vendors.
  • Model the responsible and effective use of AI to drive productivity while mitigating legal risks.
  • Interface with industry organizations and regulators to advance company policy positions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a law firm or in-house counsel role.
  • J.D. from a nationally recognized law school and an active law license in good standing.
  • Familiarity with data privacy, online content, and online safety laws relevant to social media platforms.
  • Must be based in San Francisco to support the hybrid work model.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining complex legal issues to business partners.

Nice to have

  • 6+ years of total legal experience or 2+ years of in-house experience at a tech company.
  • Familiarity with the EU AI Act and related global AI legislation.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing laws, including TCPA, CAN-SPAM, IP, and Section 230.
  • Experience with litigation involving user content or policy advocacy.
