Software Engineer (Fintech)

Salary: £45,000 - £67,000 / year

What you will do

• Own the full software lifecycle: designing, coding, testing, deploying, and running services in production.
• Develop non-trivial APIs, backend services, and frontend applications using TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
• Collaborate in Agile cross-functional product teams with Product Managers and UX Designers.
• Refactor existing codebases to ensure long-term reliability and high test coverage.
• Review merge requests and provide technical feedback to junior and mid-level engineers.
• Ensure non-functional quality attributes including security, scalability, maintainability, and accessibility.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, and React.
• Experience developing REST APIs and working with relational or NoSQL databases.
• Must be based in the UK with full right to work.
• Knowledge of SOLID principles and clean architecture patterns.
• Experience with unit/integration testing and mitigating OWASP top 10 vulnerabilities.
• Ability to use agentic coding assistants to boost delivery productivity.

Nice to have

• Exposure to AWS, serverless architecture, or Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, SST).
• Contributions to FOSS projects or technical writing.
• Understanding of financial regulations and accessibility best practices.
