Principal RF Engineer (Quantum Computing)

TL;DR

Principal RF Engineer (Quantum Computing): Designing and validating RF signal generation and distribution hardware for quantum control and qubit manipulation with an accent on RF subsystem architecture and high-frequency signal conditioning. Focus on developing RF chains, simulating system performance in Keysight ADS, and leading RF packaging for high-volume production.

Location: Boulder, CO. Must be in the office in Boulder at least 3 days per week.

Salary: $180,000 - $220,000 annually

What you will do

• Design and validate RF signal generation, distribution, and conditioning hardware for quantum control.
• Architect RF subsystems operating from MHz to GHz frequencies for production systems.
• Develop RF chains including synthesizers, amplifiers, mixers, and filters.
• Simulate system performance using Keysight ADS and other RF modeling software.
• Write Python scripts to inform RF design and automate instrument control and data analysis.
• Lead RF packaging design focusing on manufacturability, reliability, and high-volume production.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 10 years of relevant postgraduate professional experience in electronics and RF design.
• Proficiency with RF and microwave test equipment (VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes).
• Strong understanding of RF PCB design principles, including controlled impedance routing and EMC.
• Experience using Python for automating RF measurements and performance characterization.
• Must be located in or able to work hybrid in Boulder, Colorado.

Nice to have

• Experience working in a Linux environment and using Bash scripting.
• Experience in a full design cycle from schematic capture through to board bring-up.
• Familiarity with software defined radio (SDR) concepts.
