Senior PX4 Developer (Robotics)

TL;DR

Senior PX4 Developer (Robotics): Developing and optimizing autonomous drone autonomy software and firmware for a weather modification platform with an accent on PX4 firmware extension and embedded system development. Focus on modifying flight behaviors, implementing low-level peripheral communication, and validating systems through SITL/HITL simulations.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, CA. Must be willing to relocate to El Segundo, California.

What you will do

• Develop the drone autonomy software stack end-to-end as a domain expert.
• Modify and extend PX4 firmware to implement custom flight behaviors and use cases.
• Develop firmware for embedded systems covering power, peripherals, and sensing.
• Perform simulation-based testing in Gazebo, HITL, and SITL environments.
• Provide flight test support, conduct log analysis, and handle software debugging.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience developing software for PX4 or ArduPilot systems.
• Experience shipping production code in Rust, and proficiency in C++ or Python.
• Experience developing firmware for embedded targets such as ESP32 or RP2040.
• Proficiency with low-level peripheral buses including CAN, UART, I2C, and SPI.
• Experience with real-time pub/sub middleware such as Zenoh, DDS, ROS 2, or MQTT.
• Working knowledge of MAVLink and typical autopilot integration patterns.
