What you will do
- Provide dedicated IT support for lab operations, including sequencer PCs, laboratory equipment, and automation systems.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers and applications for both corporate and lab environments.
- Administer network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, to ensure seamless connectivity.
- Act as a high-tier escalation point for complex hardware and software issues for lab and corporate users.
- Implement and manage data backup and recovery solutions to prevent loss of critical laboratory data.
- Create and update system documentation, SOPs, and maintain an up-to-date inventory of hardware and software assets.
Requirements
- Must be based in or able to work onsite in South San Francisco, California.
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator, preferably in laboratory or research computing environments.
- Strong proficiency in operating systems, specifically Windows and Linux.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Ability to participate in after-hours on-call support rotations and travel to other organizational sites.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, MCSA) are strongly preferred.
