What you will do

• Provide dedicated IT support for lab operations, including sequencer PCs, laboratory equipment, and automation systems.
• Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers and applications for both corporate and lab environments.
• Administer network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, to ensure seamless connectivity.
• Act as a high-tier escalation point for complex hardware and software issues for lab and corporate users.
• Implement and manage data backup and recovery solutions to prevent loss of critical laboratory data.
• Create and update system documentation, SOPs, and maintain an up-to-date inventory of hardware and software assets.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work onsite in South San Francisco, California.
• 3 to 5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator, preferably in laboratory or research computing environments.
• Strong proficiency in operating systems, specifically Windows and Linux.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Ability to participate in after-hours on-call support rotations and travel to other organizational sites.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, MCSA) are strongly preferred.

• Experience working directly with laboratory instrumentation or scientific data systems.
