What you will do

• Drive the multi-year scientific and organizational vision for Protein Analytics & Biophysics, aligning functional strategy with company priorities.
• Define and develop next-gen biophysical and biochemical measurement capabilities, focusing on miniaturized, pooled, and nanoscale approaches.
• Oversee conventional analytical workflows, including HPLC/UPLC, LC/MS, and biosensor-based platforms, ensuring rigor and reproducibility.
• Partner with Automation, ML, and Data Science teams to scale assay concepts into production-quality capabilities.
• Manage external collaborations, CRO strategies, and vendor partnerships to increase scale and scientific differentiation.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of managers and senior scientists, fostering an inclusive and accountable culture.

Requirements

• PhD in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• 12+ years of experience in biopharma or biotechnology with substantial leadership in protein analytics and biophysics.
• Proven track record of building or scaling novel assay platforms (e.g., microfluidics, barcode-enabled readouts, or sequencing-enabled measurements).
• Deep technical expertise in HPLC/UPLC, LC/MS, CE-SDS, SPR, BLI, and related biophysical methods.
• Strong quantitative mindset with experience using informatics and assay statistics to shape scientific strategy.
• Demonstrated success as a senior people leader, including leading other managers and scaling multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with ML-enabled discovery, closed-loop experimental systems, or large-scale design-build-test-learn cycles.
• Expertise in pooled screening strategies, DNA-encoded libraries, or display technologies.
• Experience developing assays with very low material input or integrating acoustic dispensing and high-content detection.
• Experience as an external scientific spokesperson or thought leader in biophysics and protein engineering.
