Maintenance Lead (Battery Cell Development)

What you will do

• Coordinate daily preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance across cell manufacturing assets such as mixing, coating, and assembly.
• Champion a strong safety culture aligned with OSHA and GM regulatory requirements, including lockout/tagout and hazardous energy.
• Provide first-level technical guidance to technicians on mechanical, electrical, controls, and robotics issues.
• Manage work orders, downtime, and asset history using the Maximo maintenance management system.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and EHS teams to plan maintenance around builds and trials.
• Support equipment commissioning, upgrades, and conduct root-cause analysis for recurring issues.

Requirements

• Technical degree, completed apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in industrial maintenance (mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics).
• 7+ years of experience as a maintenance or technical operations specialist in manufacturing or development environments.
• Hands-on skills in troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls systems, including robotics and vision systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Warren, Michigan, including off-shifts and weekends.
• No immigration sponsorship available for this role.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of lithium-ion cell manufacturing processes (electrode, assembly, formation).
• Experience working in development, pilot, or startup environments.
• Proficiency with Maximo and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) or TPM methodologies.
