TL;DR

Application Platform Engineer (Java & Kubernetes): Building and operating the central Java application platform and runtime environment with an accent on stability, scalability, and developer experience. Focus on automating Kubernetes/OpenShift deployments, upgrading Java middleware, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines.

Location: Hybrid (Budapest, Hungary) - 3 days/week onsite

What you will do

  • Build, operate, and improve the central Java application platform and runtime environment.
  • Plan and execute middleware and platform upgrades, specifically for JBoss and Spring Framework.
  • Manage Kubernetes/OpenShift-based platform environments and deployment processes.
  • Develop and maintain shared platform services and central microservices.
  • Support agile development teams with platform, infrastructure, and deployment-related topics.
  • Drive automation and standardization across infrastructure and delivery processes.

Requirements

  • Professional experience in Platform Engineering and Java backend engineering.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java enterprise technologies, Spring Boot, and JBoss.
  • Practical experience with Kubernetes platforms (OpenShift is a plus).
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation (e.g., Jenkins, GitOps).
  • Experience operating and maintaining enterprise-scale systems and microservices architectures.
  • Must be based in or able to work from the Budapest office (hybrid).
