Associate Product Controller (Finance)

TL;DR

Associate Product Controller (Finance): Supporting the global finance team in maintaining financial transparency and operational order within a commodity trading environment with an accent on month-end closing, reconciliations, and ledger management. Focus on developing expertise in international accounting standards (UK/US/German GAAP, IFRS) and supporting external audit engagements.

Location: Must be based in London, UK. Role requires a hybrid working pattern with at least three days per week on-site in the Berkeley Square office.

What you will do

• Assist Legal Entity Controllers with business transactions across the UK, US, and Germany.
• Prepare weekly and monthly cash reconciliations and manage accounts payable transactions.
• Support month-end close activities, including balance sheet substantiation and journal entries.
• Maintain and update financial databases to ensure data accuracy and availability.
• Assist with external audit engagements and contribute to the development of accounting procedures.
• Develop skills in margin, collateral, and cash flow reporting within commodity markets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or finance.
• At least two years of experience in month-end closing, balance sheet, and PnL reconciliations.
• Part-qualified accounting professional (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA examinations completed).
• Tangible experience supporting external audit engagements.
• Advanced Excel skills, including daily use of VBA macros and process automation.
• Experience working with large data sets and data extraction, with a preference for SQL knowledge.

Nice to have

• Exposure to UK GAAP, IFRS, US GAAP, or German GAAP.
• Interest in commodity markets, specifically renewables, power, and gas.
