TL;DR

Lead Data Engineer (Architecture & Data Governance): Leading the development of data pipelines and platforms for federal defense and security sectors with an accent on AWS GovCloud and data governance. Focus on building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, implementing lakehouse architectures, and ensuring NIST/FedRAMP compliance.

Location: Must be based in the USA and possess an active SECRET security clearance

What you will do

  • Lead hands-on development of production-quality data pipelines and platform components.
  • Build and maintain large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines for ingestion and transformation.
  • Optimize pipeline performance and storage costs within AWS GovCloud.
  • Implement modern data architecture patterns, including lakehouse approaches.
  • Drive data transformation roadmaps and technical documentation for agency-wide programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate technical approaches into business frameworks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in data architecture or data engineering.
  • Active security clearance of SECRET or higher.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Proven experience with AWS GovCloud and cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, or Redshift).
  • Strong understanding of NIST regulations and FedRAMP compliance standards.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in a technical or analytical discipline.
  • AWS, Snowflake, or Databricks certifications.
  • Experience with real-time streaming (Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis).
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps practices.
