Product Engineer (AI)

TL;DR

Product Engineer (Fullstack/AI): Building and scaling the Common platform to facilitate economic democracy with an accent on AI-powered features and agentic workflows. Focus on end-to-end ownership of features, from architecture to production, while ensuring system scalability and security.

Location: Must be legally allowed to work in the United States. This is a remote position with a strong preference for East Coast (US) time zone. Travel for occasional in-person collaboration is expected.

Salary: $175,000–$200,000

What you will do

• Own discrete features end-to-end, from systems architecture and implementation to iteration.
• Build and scale AI-powered features, including agentic workflows and LLM integrations.
• Implement backend services and maintain robust, reusable UI components.
• Apply security best practices and data privacy principles throughout the development lifecycle.
• Ensure platform accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and maintain high standards for CI/CD and testing.
• Collaborate closely with design, product, and community stakeholders to drive initiatives forward.

Requirements

• Must be legally allowed to work in the United States.
• Proven experience as a senior engineer building scalable web applications with React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
• Strong track record of owning and shipping product features end-to-end.
• Experience building and integrating AI features in production, including LLMs or agentic systems.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and architecture.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience at a startup or building a product from scratch.
• Experience with graph architectures or financial features (Stripe, Unit, Wise).
• Design and user experience acumen.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code or Cursor.
• Nonprofit or mission-driven organization experience.
