Senior Autonomy Applications Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan — hybrid; frequent travel required, up to 50%. A valid U.S. driver’s license, clean driving record, ability to operate hirify.global vehicles, and a driving record check are required.

Salary: $92,000–$114,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead and coordinate launches of autonomous vehicle services at new sites.
• Configure and deploy autonomous technology on site in new locations.
• Scout locations and resolve technical challenges related to specific traffic environments.
• Represent the company technically to customers and the public, including coordinating autonomous technology demonstrations.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop features that expand system capability and improve rider experience.
• Mentor junior Field Autonomy Engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing mechanical and electrical hardware and/or developing or editing software.
• Working knowledge of C, C++, Python, Java, or similar programming languages.
• Prior experience with mobile robotics and/or autonomous vehicles.
• Experience operating in a Linux environment, including common Linux command-line utilities.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% and develop a detailed understanding of the autonomous system.
• Ability to operate and drive hirify.global vehicles; valid U.S. driver’s license, clean driving record, and willingness to undergo a driving record check.
• Ability to work under standard office conditions, including prolonged sitting, standing, and computer use.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
• Experience designing and developing software in C, C++, and/or Python environments.
